I got the job!
The telephone one, not the in-person one. I now work for a little company south of Nottingham, and I get to work from home for 3 days a week (at least for now, anyway).
Things have been stressful lately, lots of little things seem to be going wrong, and it's built up on me. The house is a mess because we spent £1,800 at Ikea on new furniture (mainly for the computer room) and it's taking time to built it, and move things around, and sell the old stuff. Hopefully it'll all be sorted by the weekend.
My trans life is moving forward, I got the psychological "OK" from Gender GP to have HRT, now I need to pay for blood tests, which I'll have to do myself, and that'll be horrible, but worth it in the long-run, right?
The weather's been balmy too, the two weeks or more of June were blazingly hot (like, 30°c every.single.day) and it's shown no signs of stopping. They reckon we have at least another week of it. I am soo glad I got AC installed in the computer room, it's by far the coolest room in the house, even though it's south-facing (the dog loves it!).
In excellent news, we bought an HTC vive on Wednesday, and that is soo much fun! The new computer room is really ideal for it, a nice 2m² space to move around in, and I found out that the tools used to make virtual homes in Steam are the same oens I used to make TFC maps 15 years ago! :-)
Right, I best get back to work. Back soon!
I created this blog to document my day-to-day activities as dad of three wonderful children who are growing up too fast. This is for them to enjoy long after I am gone.

Interviews
Not just me either, DW too!
I've got an in-person interview at a job in Nottingham next Wednesday, and I might have a Skype interview for another place south of Nottingham tomorrow, hopefully I'll get one of them so I can commute to work daily and not have to stay away from home. DW has a job interview for a nursery next Tuesday, it's not what she wants to do, but it'll stop her from going mad by being at home all the time alone with Loki. Could be the beginning of something new and wonderful next week!!
Keep your fingers crossed.

Tired
It's 4am and I'm still at work!
Guh, it's my own fault. Well kinda. No it is. This evening I decided to drag the family to a trans-gender support group thing. I wouldn't say it was fun, or particularly helpful, but it was nice to be in the company of people who are going through the same thing. It was an interesting mix of people, a couple of other MtF adults, lots of trans-kids, their parents and siblings. It was a good session, but it meant swapping my early night shift for the late one, and here I am, at work, with itchy eyes and a very tired head. I was expecting to be done by 3, but they've got issues with the HHTs, and some other things, so I'm stuck here trying to help. So tired.
Just wanted to let you know. So that's all for now.
Adiós.

The Greatest Showman
So I went to see The Greatest Showman last week, what a film!
I should have gone to the gym, but I wasn't in the mood, and the night before at work I was looking at what's on at the local cinema, The Greatest Showman was showing at 12, the perfect time to get up, dressed, walk there, watch the film, walk back and have something to eat before work. Darn. DW & WB have both raved about this film for weeks & weeks, practically begging me to watch it with them, DW roped TJ & KK in to watching it and they were glued to the screen. So I figured it was time to get in on game.
And I'm so glad I did.
What an absolutely enjoyable film. I just sat there for two hours and took in every moment, there wasn't a single time when I thought "oh, this is moving a bit slowly", or "wow, this is boring". The songs, the story, the characters, the sets, everything just built up & up & up. If you haven't seen it, and you enjoy musicals, I suggest you go see it! I've had the soundtrack playing on & off for five days now and I'm still not bored of it.
So yeah, not really a film review, but just wanted to say I enjoyed The Greatest Showman, and I should have gone to see it sooner. I look forward to the DVD release!
Bye for now!

Poor unfortunate soul
Yes, I'm listening to Disney music ... boy do I wish I was there, Disney World ... sigh.
Anyway, this week we got AC installed in the computer room so that in the summer it doesn't get crazy hot in there again like it has for the past two summers. Of course by doing this I fully accept that we are going to have the worst and coldest winter in the history of time & space, but there you go, that's my lot in life.
We took Loki out for his first walk on Monday evening, which he seemed to enjoy, just went as far as the Co-op and back again and by the time we got back he seemed pretty tired, hopefully daily walks will release some of his pent-up energy and he'll be a bit calmer at home. We'll see.
Other than work there's not much else to write about, so I'll sign off now and bid you good night.

Monday
I'm not confused, but today is my first day back at work.
I'm actually missed being on nights, it's nice to have people around on the day-shift, but it's sooo noisy in the day, and when it rains on the metal roof the rain is loud and people start talking louder and ... argh! Aaanyway, nights, yeah, I do get tired, but having the day to go to the gym and mooch around the shops before coming in to work when everybody else is leaving is actually really nice. I think I'd like my next contract to be night work again. We shall see, I've just agreed to extend this one for another three months, so no need to go hunting yet.
We had a lovely Easter weekend. My sister & her husband came to visit and we all had lots of fun playing a card game where it had close-up photographs of everyday objects and we had to guess what they were (some were really hard!), after that we had a laugh playing Mario Kart. Good times. We spent lots of time in the house as Loki can't go out until the 14th, but DW and I convinced WB to watch the other two while we went out to buy a new toaster, kettle & frying pan (after WB used a metal fish slice in the pan and scratched off the non-stick coating!). We also went swimming yesterday, which was nice.
One thing I need to write about is me being transgender, it's not for right now, but I'll go in to it one day perhaps.
I best get back to work, it's 12:19am and I finish at 1, so not long to go! Toodleoo.

Time flies
Here I am, sat in my digs, again.
It's been too long, and today is another day. I'm lonely, being away from home is lonely, but it is worth it, the benefits are worth it. I have to remind myself of that.
We got a dog on the 10th! Loki. The kids love him, but they're not keen on taking him into the garden, or cleaning up after his poos, still, they'l get used to it, it's what we all agreed to! Chalrie is not impressed, they don't fight as such, but Charlie won't sit on the sofa with you like he used to if Loki is in the room. Hopefully one day they'll get along.
DW finished her course and is starting her own childminding business once Ofsted approve everything, hopefully by Easter (although that's next week, erk!).
WB is doing his GCSEs now, TJ is being a PITA, like all 9 year old boys are, and KK has hit that akward friendship stage, hopefully she won't lose her fantastic personality in the effort to "fit in".
Oh, and I "came out" as transgender, I'm on the waiting list to be seen my a specialist, but that won't be until summer 2019 I think, at the earliest.
Bye for now.
